Our story

Welcome to Home Essentials

Home essentials is a one-stop shop for everything you need to make your house a home. Since the early 2000s, Home Essentials has been supplying kiwis with cookware, kitchenware, bakeware and tableware in-store and online.

Chris and Meg bought the business in 2021 with the mindset that people should buy sustainable, high-quality products that will last. As parents of four kids, two dogs and far too many pots and pans, they understand the importance of how you spend your hard-earned dollars and they truly understand that ‘happiness is homemade’.

Their aim is to source the best quality kitchenware, cookware and tableware products and sell them at affordable prices. What’s more, they are committed to ensuring that every Home Essentials customer experiences first-class service.

We fundamentally believe that people should buy once and buy well but that it shouldn’t cost the earth and in line with that our purpose is to help kiwis fill their homes with the best quality homeware. We do this by stocking the best brands from around the world, keeping our prices as low as we possibly can and making sure our range is as broad and relevant as possible.

The Home Essentials team are experienced with ample knowledge about homeware products whether you are buying for your kitchen, bathroom, or laundry. The team are here to help and can’t wait to welcome you to the store.

Our store

400sqm of Kitchen Heaven

While many of our competitors are moving to online-only stores due to the high costs and uncertainty from the Covid-1 pandemic, our store is a critical part of our offering. We absolutely love the engagement it gives us with customers. It enables us to showcase our vast range of brands (over 120) and products (over 5,000). We value the opportunity to connect with like-minded customers every day and that is important to us and our business.

We are very proud of our brand-new Auckland flagship store on the North Shore that has over 400sqm of kitchenware, cookware and homewares and is sure to have that one thing you need. If we don’t have a product in stock, we will do everything we can to order it for you.

Dispatch Information

Store Pick Up Only – these products are particularly fragile and despite significant effort over the years to protect them when couriering we still encountered multiple breakages and therefore have chosen to no longer courier these items.

Ships 2-4 days – we pick these products up from our local suppliers twice a week and then send to you.

Ships 5-8 days – we order these products from our suppliers in Australia twice a week and then send to you on the same day they arrive in our store.

Special Order – This product is ordered as a one off with our European suppliers. They can take a few months to arrive. When you purchase we will be in touch with you within 24 hours to discuss.

Pre-Order - This product is currently out of stock or soon to be released by our supplier. Buying today will secure your order from our first delivery. We would usually expect these products to be in our store within 10-14 days. When you purchase we will be in touch with you within 24 hours to discuss.
