Samsonite was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1910 by Jesse Shwayder, a luggage salesman, as the Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company. A marketer by nature Shwayder named one of his initial cases Samson, after the Bible character, and began using the trademark Samsonite on a few products in 1941. A brand name that would stand the test of time and become known the world over for its quality. The company changed its entire name to Samsonite in 1966.For over 80 years Samsonite has been on the forefront of revolutionizing the luggage industry with their never-ending passion for innovation, use of new materials and technology and introduction a real fashion approach to luggage.
